Meet Our Governors

sally collier - vice chair of governors

I have been a governor at Park lane Nursery and Primary School since 1995 and over this time I have seen a huge change in this role. During this time I was Chair of Governors for over eight years. I have been involved in a wide range of activities from performance management, staff appointments and many governor visits. These visits have been of a huge variety including sports day, drama productions, residential trips and safeguarding.

As a governor I believe that we should ensure that the school continues to improve and raise standards so that each individual child receives the best education possible. My particular interests are in Safeguarding, teaching and learning, leadership and governance and attendance and Pupil Premium.

My background is in education. I qualified as a teacher many years ago and over this time have worked in a variety of roles. My last position was as advisory teacher for Children in Care. I retired in June 2011 but since I have worked part time with a fostering agency both supporting foster carers and tutoring children and young people.

Lucy Porter - staff governor

I qualified as a primary school teacher in 1992 and worked for many years at a school in Peterborough. I moved to part time working when my son was born in 2006 and decided that as he got older that I wanted to do some volunteering work.

I became a parent governor at Park Lane when my son was in Year 1. He is now a student at SHSCC. When I began working for New Road and Park Lane schools In 2012, I transferred to become a staff governor.

I really enjoy my role volunteering on the governing body and have witnessed many changes since I began my role.

My particular areas of interest on the governing body include safeguarding, pupil premium and vulnerable children.

Outside school, my interests include reading, music and History.

Helen Grainger - staff governor

I qualified as a primary school teacher in 2003. Since then, I’ve worked in numerous schools in

Peterborough. I also spent 7 years teaching in Italy, Russia and Germany, which was enormously challenging but rewarding.

I started teaching at Park Lane in 2015 and have taught children in Years 3 and 4. Since I started working here, I’ve seen many positive changes at Park Lane. In my role as staff governor, I want to make a valuable

impact. I want to ensure that the school continues to raise standards and every child enjoys their time here. Outside school, I enjoy spending time with my family and baking.

Coral Cornell - community governor

Having been a teacher at Park Lane I have recently retired and am delighted to now be a community governor following on from several years as a staff governor. I hope that my many years in education places me well to be critical friend to the senior leadership of the school. I always put the well being of the children first. I know Park Lane to be a happy and successful school and hope that in some small way I will be able to help the school grow and develop in the coming years.

Community Governor

Adam Ding - parent governor

I am manager of a timber engineering firm who produce high specification Bespoke Staircases, Engineered Joist Systems, Roof Trusses and Fire Doors. My team looks after the Staircase and Joist divisions of the business. I have been in the construction industry for a little over 20 years now and love how diverse and interesting it is. I particularly enjoy meeting self-build customers and share in their passion to build their perfect home! I have a son at Park Lane and I am really happy to be part of the governing body that looks after him and the other pupils in the school. I am also the Chairman of Friends of Park Lane School (FOPLS) which is dedicated to raising money for the school and help fund many projects, school outings and other

things that benefit all the children. In my spare time I’m kept busy with my lovely Wife as we enjoy

renovating our house. My Son and three dogs keep me pretty busy too!

Parent Governor

David Wyatt - parent governor

I've worked in the video games industry for a decade with a primary focus on children's games as a technical Animator and artist; with a focus on education and enrichment through play. Being a part of projects for Disney, Microsoft and Roblox to name a few.

As a School Governor I hope to be able to bring a fresh perspective and passion to interactive media use in education, child online safety and creative arts which are all a part of my own day to day work, along with interacting with children in an online space.

I have my own little boy attending his first year at Park Lane with a daughter to follow in the future years and becoming a Governor is driven by both a passion to be a part of helping my children get a strong education as much as it is helping to improve on where my own wasn't as strong. Nowadays especially in a digital age where technology moves at a faster pace than education, law and business can keep up with.

Even a parents own ability with current technology can be quickly outpaced by their children. I look forward to being a governor and helping to the best if my ability.

Parent Governor

Lisa Randle - parent governor

I have spent many years in Human Resources within the private sector assisting businesses in their journey to achieve business objectives. My experience includes both generalist and strategic HR such as performance development, recruitment, equal opportunities, business reorganisations and enhancing employee communication and engagement.

As a parent of two children at Park Lane Primary school, I am very passionate about supporting the school to continue to raise standards and provide the best education for every child giving them the opportunity to thrive as individuals in a safe, friendly, encouraging, inclusive environment recognising the importance of the well-being of all children.

Having taken a career break, I am very keen to give my time to help the school continuously strive to be the best they can be and make a positive difference through supporting the school in an impartial, inclusive, professional and committed way, observing, sharing, challenging and contributing ideas.

My particular interests include curriculum and subject leadership, the welfare and behaviour of the children, attendance and the teaching and learning experience.

My personal interests are cycling, pilates and spending time with my family.

Parent Governor

Dave Stone - parent governor

I’ve worked as a professional environmental scientist in the public sector for 30 years.

I originally trained as an ecologist but would describe myself today as a multidisciplinary environmentalist having developed expertise in public health, aspects of social science and economics.

So why have I become a governor? My education made a tremendous difference to my life enabling me to pursue a professional career. I have a firmly held belief that every child should experience a nurturing school environment that enables and supports them to be the best that they can be. Given my profession I inevitably have a keen interest in the teaching of STEM subjects.

My family and I have lived in Whittlesey since 2018. As a parent of two children at the school I look forward to supporting the staff, the pupils and the school.
